So it has been some time, so here is an update for those of you interested.
On March 23rd, I graduated from The Art Institute of CA - San Francisco, with a B.S. in Game Art and Design.
My QGPA = 4.0 (A first, as far as I can recall) My overall GPA = 3.6 (not too bad, could have been better, if I didn't slack off a couple of times)
So the 23rd was filled with the fun of the portfolio show. What's that?... well, its just where all the grads get together and display their work, resumes, and demo reels (If they have them) to potential employers. Normally people from the industry come to the show. This time however, the game industry presence, wasn't overly strong. Mostly, it was due to the fact that The Game Developers Conference was going on that week. The location was a good drive also, so that is how it went.
I spend most of my time talking to some old instructors, parents, potential students, and 2nd qtr students. I did talk to a few people in the industry, but not too many.
Leading up to it, I spend most of my time on my comp working on things. If I wasn't helping someone setup and burn there demo reel, I was working on mine. I think over the last week I was sleeping about 2hrs a day, and that was normally in my chair in front of my comp. Of course, things kept going wrong. Things like my demo reel having to be re-burned due to quality issues, the postcards I ordered being delayed, me having to run out and getting more prints of things, etc. I spent a good deal of money on everything after it was all said and done.
I did manage to get my postcards in, a couple days after the show. So if anyone wants some let me know. I also have some demo reels left so if you are interested let me know. The demo reels are DVD video and should play in all NTSC Region 1 DVD players, and DVD drives.
I'll probably post images of the postcards, either, on my website, or both.
Other then that not too much has been going on.
Oh... I was asked to be a judge at the Cherry Blossom Festival Cosplay contest again. It looks like I should be able to do it, so that is good. However, my friend who is organizing it is kind of wanting a female judge as well, this would help balance it out. He is worried people might complain if the only judges are male. I can see his point. One person was already upset with me being a judge last year, because I do not cosplay. He didn't seem to like my answer either. Oh well, guess that is how it goes.
I have asked tristinecitrine and daenerys if they would like to be judges since they are close by and this is last minute. Hopefully, one of them will be able to do it. Guess we'll see what happens.
oh the basic info for the contest.
